Family Security

My family is the most important thing in my world as I am sure yours is in your world. Estate planning is critically important to protecting your family against creditors, divorce, to make blended families work and to eliminate the feelings that can arise in emotional times such as a death. A properly planned estate can smoothly transition property to the beneficiaries and reduce the emotional difficulties as well as preplan for financial issues, retirement, funeral decisons and tax implications.

It is all about your family's security. We realize that the process of planning an estate can be a complex and intimidating whether you have a very small or a very large estate, are appointing guardians for your most important asset - your children, planning for a child going off to college, concerned for a parent or spouse who is aging and may need to apply for Medicaid. Maybe your family has many assets because you are a real estate developer, business owner or a physician worried about lawsuits or your family just has multiple and complex financial issues.  The decisions involved in all of these cases are often emotional and difficult to make.  We want to help you work through this decision-making.  Our goal is to work with you to build an estate plan that is customized to your personal and family or business circumstances and that accomplishes your objectives in the priority that we mutually establish. As a mother, daughter and sister, I understand that protecting your family is the most important consideration.

We believe that planning for the unexpected is the ultimate protection and the greatest gift you can give your family.

Estate Planning, Probate and Asset Protection Attorney

As a Board Certified Estate Planning and Probate attorney and with 26 years of experience I have not seen everything yet - but I am working toward it!

In addition to working with my client's unique situations, I am a mother of three, a business owner, a rancher and one of 5 children in a large extended family. I want to use my legal and practical experience to make the estate planning and / or defensive estate planning (asset protection) process less stressful for you and your family. My goal is to have my clients leave my office knowing that if something happens to them their children are protected, the spouse or life partner does not need to worry and that they have made their decisions with all of our legal knowledge and experience to guide them.

I also encourage the involvement of your other trusted advisors such as your CPA and investment advisor in the planning process so that your planning considers all facets of your unique situation.

Our firm's initial meeting is always complimentary and is an opportunity for you to explore the concerns and questions you may have about how to care for your family, your children, your parents or a disabled family member. Our initial meeting is also a chance to for us to get to know each other. We limit our practice to wills, trusts, and other estate planning and asset protection techniques including family limited partnerships, limited liabiliy companies, charitable trusts and family foundations, estate and gift taxation planning, elder law, including medicaid, probate and administrations, so that we are not distracted by a general practice and can offer your family the best information in our chosen field.

If possible we use project fee based billing so that you know what your legal costs will be and you will never have to worry that calling or emailing a question will cost you money..

Another way in which you can obtain more information and to gain a better understanding of any of these topics and more is to attend one of our workshops. If that is something you would be interested in then please go to “Workshops and Seminars Calendar” under Resources.

We look forward to meeting and working with you. If you have any questions, comments or need assistance please email our legal assistant at paralegal@thrashlawfirm.com or direct an email to me at erin@thrashlawfirm.com or to tracy@thrashlawfirm.com.
